Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Orders supplies and maintains records and files.
Collects and updates socio-economic and health information from patients and assists physicians and nurses during examinations.
Operates radiographic equipment, takes, develops and labels x-rays as prescribed by a physician.
Obtains venipuncture blood samples from patients.

Examples of Duties
UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION
Registers patients, records financial and medical information on forms, prepares and witnesses consent forms, schedules appointments, processes patient records, maintains patient flow during clinic sessions and maintains clinic appointment book.
Positions patients in order to x-ray the appropriate area.
Loads film holders and cassettes into radiograph equipment, takes, develops and labels x-ray photographs as prescribed by a physician.
Determines length of exposure according to processing instructions.
Cleans x-ray equipment and performs minor repairs.
Collects and delivers blood samples and other laboratory specimens to be analyzed.
Operates a computer terminal to enter, store and retrieve information and prepares and submits reports on activities.
Keeps records and files exposed films when properly identified.
Maintains radiology equipment, supplies, and chemicals.
Performs related work.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements
Certificate from a one year accredited program.
Radiographic.
Technology.

WORK EXPERIENCE
One year of operating radiographic equipment and developing x-rays experience.

EQUIVALENCY
Additional education may be substituted for the experience requirement.

OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must wear personal protective equipment as mandated by OSHA.
Must possess a Limited Certificate as a Radiation Operator in the State of Kentucky.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must successfully complete phlebotomy on-the-job training within three months of employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work.
