Description

The Director of Unity and Diversity will help all Christian Academy stakeholders to build a school environment where all are respected, valued, and appreciated. Using the mission statement, he/she will help create a diverse community that is supportive of all ethnic backgrounds, feelings, and individual physical characteristics of others, while developing an appreciation for the God-given talents and abilities of those encountered throughout the world. This leader will reinforce the school’s belief based on Galatians 3:28 that we are one family in Christ enhanced by embracing the differences God has designed in all of His creation. The Director of Diversity and Unity is identified as a spiritual leader and a resource for all schools, programs, and departments in the school system. The candidate shall possess characteristics that reflect:
A strong clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spirit.
A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school.
Commitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith for Christian Academy School System.
Agreement and belief that The Bible is the final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind.
The ideal candidate shall possess:

Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Support diversity relations between home, church, and school.
Serve and lead on the school system’s Diversity Committee.
Partner with HR in the recruitment and retention of staff/faculty of cultural diversity including creating and cultivating relationships with regional/national colleges and universities.
Partner with Admissions Department in the recruitment and retention of students of cultural diversity.
Collaborate with the Director of HR on all diversity issues relating to staff or faculty.
Collaborate with School Principals/Counselors on diversity issues with faculty or students.
Partner with the Marketing Department to ensure all communications, website, visuals, and public relations align with CASS’s commitment to diversity and unity.
Develop yearly strategic plans and goals.
Advise and serve as a resource to administrators, faculty, staff, students, and parents.
Serve as a resource for School Improvement Teams.
Plan and execute training and awareness programs on issues related to diversity and unity.
Collaborate with the Asst. Superintendent and Curriculum Department in developing diversity and unity initiatives in the classrooms and reviewing curriculum resources.
Offer strategic leadership and vision where areas of diversity and unity are concerned.
Act as the liaison between the system and the various cultural communities in the area in support of the effort to serve these communities.
Participate in job fairs, open houses, and other events related to promoting diversity on CASS campuses.
Comply with the employee handbook.
Model appropriate Christian behavior in speech and actions.
All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Measurable Outcomes:
Campus student population demographics represent the community in which they are located.
There is a substantial increase in diversity rates in the staff/faculty.
A dynamic and celebratory culture related to diversity and unity is visually representative at all campuses.
Surveys of students, parents, staff/faculty show an increase in understanding and an embrace of a system focus on unity and diversity.
An evaluation of partnerships with local diverse churches, businesses, and community groups.
Creation of active student groups/clubs that celebrate and support diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
Reporting Relationship:
The Director of Unity and Diversity shall be accountable to the Superintendent of the Christian Academy School System.

Requirements

The candidate shall possess characteristics that reflect:
A strong clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spirit.
A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school.
Commitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith for Christian Academy School System.
Agreement and belief that The Bible is the final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind.
The ideal candidate shall possess:
Strong personal relationship skills and the ability to work closely with a wide range of people.
Leadership skills to lead diverse groups of people, including regularly leading prayer, devotions and an occasional Bible study.
Proven oral and written skills, including public speaking.
A high level of professionalism, including a high level of discretion and respect for confidentiality.
Strong knowledge of Biblical truths as it relates to diversity and unity.

Required Education

Bachelor Degree — A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Education, Counseling, Human Resources, or a related field. Eligibility for ACSI certification or equivalent.
