JOB DESCRIPTION - SALES ASSOCIATE
1. Every Sales Associate is responsible for the proper and efficient operation of his or her shift, within company policy, to ensure that the shift contributes to the profitability of the store.

2. The Duties and Responsibilities are:

A. Customer Service:
Greets all customers promptly (including gasoline intercom) and provides courteous service adhering to all Best In Class standards.
Ensures that store appearance reflects company expectations and standards.
Ensures that the store is open and ready for business during all hours.
Handles all customer conflicts by using our method of MAKE IT RIGHT.

B. General Job Duties:
Is committed to our Vision/Mission Statement (T.H.A.N.K.S).
Performs specific tasks as assigned by the Store Manager.
Follows all federal, state and local laws and ordinances pertaining to the operation of the store.
Follows the work schedule as posted, unless a change in schedule is arranged with Store Manager.
Operates shift within company guidelines and policies.
Ensures Store Manager is made aware of all sales, cash, or operating discrepancies.
Actively participates in all Company contests.
Suggestive sells at all times.

C. Accounting:
Completes a shift checklist according to company policy.
Properly records all hours worked on the work station.
Rings all sales on the sales register, with no exception.
Accurately records all voids, refunds and price overrides.

D. Human Resources:
Advises Store Manager of any personnel situations or policy violations having an adverse effect on store operating performance.
Treats all co-workers and customers with dignity and respect.
Advises Store Manager of any personnel situations or policy violations having an adverse effect on store operating performance.
Records hours worked in the workstation.
Complies with the Company Responsible Retailing policy.

E. Security:
Ensures all cash handling procedures are followed.
Ensures a safe shopping and working environment.
Ensures all company assets are protected, including cash and merchandise.
Ensures vendor check- in procedures are followed per company policy.
Ensures cash is only kept in the safe and the register.
Follows company policy with regard to excessive cash in registers, change fund and safe security as directed by Store Manager.
Follows company policy with regard to not allowing another associate to operate his or her cash drawer.
Follows company shift change procedures as per company policy.


F. Merchandising:
Keeps coolers, drink boxes, store shelves, and displays fully stocked and fronted at all times.
Properly cleans and maintains equipment and readies high-margin products such as coffee, fountain drinks, etc. as directed by Store Manager.
Uses correct pricing as listed on the DSD or grocery book for all merchandise.
Uses suggestive selling techniques as directed by Store Manager.

G. Maintenance:
Keeps store floors clean at all times, with specific responsibility being assigned by the Store Manager.
Checks refrigeration equipment for proper performance and temperatures a minimum of once per shift.
Cleans windows, floors, shelving, counters, gas pumps and parking lot to ensure they remain clean at all times.
Follows all items on the shift duty checklist.
Immediately advises Store Manager of any maintenance problems.

H. Safety:
Ensures that ladders are properly used.
Ensures that lifting procedures are followed per company policy.
Ensures that wet floor signs are used, per company policy.
Reports accidents promptly to store manager and corporate office.


JOB DESCRIPTION - FOOD SERVICE ASSOCIATE

1. Statement of the Job:

Every Hucks Food Service Associate is responsible for the proper and efficient operation of the food service department within company policy in such a manner as to ensure that the department is profitable and maintains the highest level of quality and customer service.

2. The Duties and Responsibilities are:

A. General Management:
Ensures that the food service department is open and ready for business during all hours for which the department is scheduled to be open.
Effectively schedules associates to meet business demands using fixed schedule.
Gives all customers prompt and courteous service.
Effectively communicates with store associates and management.
Follows all federal, state and local laws and ordinances pertaining to the operation of the department.
Provides a role model of conduct for other associates in the store.
Controls variable expenses of the department.
Ensure all associates are in proper uniform and providing prompt, courteous customer service.

B. Bookkeeping:
Ensures all paperwork is done accurately and in a timely manner.
Maintains inventory and loss within company guidelines.
Conducts inventories as directed by management.
Ensures all associates are properly recording all hours worked.

C. Human Resources:
Treats all associates with dignity and respect and uses the proper personnel management techniques.
Ensures that all associates receive breaks.
Advises store manager of any personnel situations or policy violations having an adverse effect on store operating performance.
Trains all new associates on proper completion of their job duties.

D. Security:
Ensures all associate shift procedures are followed.
Ensures a safe shopping and working environment.
Ensures all safety rules are followed and protective equipment used.


E. Merchandising:
Ensures current sign program is posted on the date the program begins.
Ensures current plan-o-grams being used.
Communicates with division manager any special needs or request.
Effectively orders merchandise to prevent out of stocks and maintain proper inventory levels as directed.

F. Maintenance:
Ensures the food service appearance reflects company expectations and standards.
All food service display cases and glass are clean.
Reports any maintenance problems that cannot be corrected immediately without assistance to the store manager.
Ensures all food service areas are kept clean and follows all sanitation procedures.

G. Safety:

Ensures that ladders are properly used.
Ensures that lifting procedures are followed per company policy.
Ensures that wet floor signs are used, per company policy.

Requirements

SALES ASSOCIATE:
Must be able to: Read, understand, and write the English language at the eighth-grade level.
Perform arithmetical calculations at the eighth-grade level in order to be able to make change and complete shift reports.
Have sufficient visual acuity to check identification and process money orders.
Read and understand instructions for operating electronic cash registers and other equipment.
Read and understand instructions for operating electronic cash registers and other equipment.
Lift up to 60.pounds, carrying cases of soft drinks, beer and juice containers, etc. or change a bag in the box for fountain soda syrup at least once per shift;
Stock shelves and coolers.
React to a fire by lifting a fire extinguisher weighing 10 pounds and moving it to the fire area.
Bend in order to pull up a metal plate weighing 20 pounds and to put a tanker truck nozzle in the underground storage tank.
Tolerate exposure to gasoline fumes and cleaning products.
Climb a ladder to clean windows or change gasoline price signs;
Speak and understand English, including the ability to hear the spoken word.
Sweep and mop floors, dust shelves, and lift and carry out trash containers and place in an outside bin.

Clean the parking lot and grounds surrounding the convenience store.
Enter and work in a cooler at a temperature of 33 degrees up to 20 minutes at a time.



FOOD SERVICE ASSOCIATE
Must be able to: Read, understand, and write the English language at the high school graduate level.
Perform arithmetical calculations at the high school graduate level in order to be able to complete shift and management reports.
Have sufficient visual acuity to check recipes and complete paperwork.
Read and understand instructions for operating computer and other equipment.
Lift up to 60 pounds, carrying cases of product or change a bag in the box for fountain soda syrup, at least once per shift.
React to a fire by lifting a fire extinguisher weighing 10 pounds and moving it to the fire area.
Stock shelves and the walk in cooler.
Tolerate exposure to gasoline fumes and cleaning products.
Speak and understand English, including the ability to hear the spoken word.
Sweep and mop floors, dust shelves, and lift and carry out trash containers and place in an outside bin.
Enter and work in a cooler at a temperature of 33 degrees up to 20 minutes at a time.
