AutoCad and Estimating Specialist

Position purpose: The AutoCad and Estimating Specialist will create AutoCad drawings and professional, updated DWG files that will be supplied to customers, read blueprints and technical documents, and prepare estimates for upcoming projects. The AutoCad and Estimating Specialists will identify and quantify cost factors such as production time and raw material, equipment and labor expenses. The AutoCad and Estimating Specialist will prepare quotes on firestopping, fireproofing and Photoluminescent Egress Markings and other services for new construction projects. In addition, this individual will prepare quotes on fire and smoke damper repairs and replacement, firestopping installations, fire and smoke door repairs and Photoluminescent Egress Markings for existing buildings. The individual will also be called upon to label fire doors to ensure code compliance.

• Creates AutoCAD drawings for customers’ projects
• Creates and modifies maps for special assignments
• Prepares bill of materials associated with project estimates
• Evaluates a project’s cost effectiveness and profitability
• Ensures all aspects of the project specifications are incorporated into the project estimate
• Works with the Regional Account Representatives, Clients, Engineers and other stakeholders in preparation of the estimate
• Recommends ways to make projects more cost effective or profitable.
• Travel to label fire doors to ensure code compliance
• Performs other related duties as assigned


Desired Skills and Experience
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• AutoCad software experience
• Ability to review estimates for completion and technical accuracy ensuring quality and integrity
• Well organized, able to plan, prioritize and manage multiple tasks
• Detailed-oriented with the ability to focus on quality and accuracy
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
• Good communication skills
• Experience meeting deadlines with minimal supervision
• Commitment to continuous learning
Minimum Requirements
• High school diploma or GED required
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, mathematics, AutoCad Design preferred but experience may be considered in lieu of education
• 2-3 years of experience using AutoCad or in the construction industry or as a cost estimator in manufacturing
• Knowledge of surveying and structural systems helpful
• Ability to travel
