Electrical Controls / Panel Building (Co-op/Internship)




Purchase, build, upgrade and repair electrical and pneumatic controls systems for automated machines. Duties (may include but are not limited to the following): Build control / operator panels and field wire machines. Support production operations by troubleshooting and repairing automated controls on existing machines. Revise with mark ups electrical schematics for machines so they can be updated by the design team. Make program, schematic, and hardware modifications to existing automated machines. Project manage, design, program, startup, and debug controls on small scale automated machines upgrades.


Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, panel layouts, and Bill of Materials. Possesses basic wiring knowledge with a minimum of 2 years experience in the machine wiring field. Able to multi task projects simultaneously. Possesses routine documentation skills such as time tracking, looking up files and programs, record keeping, etc. Ability to expand job skills through classes, training, workshops, and on-the-job training. Preferred Qualifications: PLC programming understanding or experience.
Operator Interface programming understanding or experience. Automated machine troubleshooting experience. EPLAN or equivalent experience related to electrical schematics. Skills: Operational knowledge of control relays, pneumatic solenoids, pneumatic controls, PLC’s, motion controllers, servomotors, stepper motors, operator interfaces, etc. Understand the best path for routing of wires to take into consideration replacement, flexibility, movement, strain relief, etc. Possesses the ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate verballing and through email system. Preferred but not required skills: Experience in Red Lion operator interfaces preferred. Ability to read and write in structured text programming language (i.e. C++, Basic etc.). Experience in EPLAN or equivalent software for controls hardware engineering and development.

Some college — Preferably pursuing a degree in Engineering and Electronics Technology.
