Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Coordinates special events.
Issues permits for special events.
Schedules and organizes marketing, corporate sponsorship and advertising functions.
Solicits sponsorships, corporate memberships and funding for events.

Examples of Duties:
UNDER ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISION -
GENERAL:
Composes correspondence, and maintains records and files.
Conducts tours of facilities, and explains and discusses rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Communicates reservation needs, set-up arrangements and dates with maintenance, custodial and support services staff to assure compliance with contracts, scheduling and other logistical needs.
Researches and solicits the support and participation of individuals, corporations, foundations, and community agencies to promote, develop and implement projects, events and programs.
Presents promotional presentations and educational programs to groups and organizations.
Attends public meetings to disseminate information and solicit contributions and donations.
Prepares bid specifications, cost estimates, contracts, and license agreements for events and sponsors.
Performs related work.

ZOO:
Contacts businesses to sponsor special events, activities or programs.
Submits ideas for special events and activities to increase attendance, donations and sponsorship opportunities.
Reviews event budget reports, and evaluates events to determine effectiveness and attainment of goals and objectives.

METRO PARKS:
Coordinates permit operations for special events and consults with clients and patrons to determine services or special event needed.
Monitors events to assure all permits are in place, enters data and maintains client databases.
Provides technical assistance and instruction regarding event scheduling, customer service, problem solving, policies and procedures and quality assurance.
Performs related work.

Requirements

WORK EXPERIENCE:
One year of retail sales, customer service, marketing, fundraising, public relations or development experience.

EQUIVALENCY:
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work.
Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Lifts and carries items weighing over 50 pounds in a team setting.
