Description

The Production Planner will support our operations and customer service team, and will handle production scheduling as needed. Summary: Provide the communication link between RFC, our customers and our internal organization concerning orders. Accurately process and manage customer orders and inquiries to insure timely delivery. Responsible for production planning on customer parts, balancing customer demand with internal resources. Manage raw material and finished goods inventory levels within allowable levels of inventory turns while maintaining the ability to provide customer deliveries on discreet PO’s, JIT Blankets, and EDI released blankets. Makes necessary modifications to schedules as required. Initiates work orders to the appropriate department on a weekly bases and when revisions are made to the schedule. Provide back up for Production Scheduler as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: process and coordinate customer orders; work order generation (creating new work orders) and daily maintenance; closing work orders in GSS – once available & established; assist with customer shipments and freight. Analyze customer requirements and plan material and resources accordingly to insure prompt delivery. Maintain accurate customer and part records in Visual (GSS when available). Visit customer websites to retrieve orders, performance reports, forecast, arrange customer truck schedules, update capacity reports, etc. per specific customer requirements. Prepare part and/or customer analysis reports upon request. Provide monthly and quarter sales forecast information. Assist with ordering and managing inventory levels of raw material, finished goods, and all purchased components within RFC acceptable inventory turn levels while at the same time insure product availability to our customers. Schedule production resources (equipment and manpower) to maximize capacity and insure production efficiency related to run standards. Effectively communicate schedule requirements, status and changes within RFC. Prepare part and/or customer analysis reports upon request. Assist with/coordinate warehouse preparation, scanning, auditing and reconciliation of annual physical inventory. Perform a variety of administrative tasks requiring knowledge of applicable systems and procedures.

Requirements

Demonstrate strong computer skills, including: using and maintaining MRP system for customer forecast data and maintaining a production schedule; working with EDI; Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and Outlook. Have direct experience with the following:
performed previously as interface between customers, purchasing and production; developing, integrating and maintaining complete production plans, master schedules and forecasts which meet or exceed customer objectives. Possess an understanding of customer service order entry functions. Proven track record for production planning, implementing a production schedule to make an order and make-to-stock environment.
materials planning, capacity planning and purchasing in an order/make-to-stock environment. Be local to Shelbyville, KY area or willing to relocate within 30 miles. Be legally authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred applicants will have: excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to be flexible in a dynamic work environment; experience with Global Shop Solutions ERP; and experience with production planning, inventory management, clerical and data entry, and report development.

Required Education

High School Diploma — With equivalent experience of production planning or manufacturing scheduling of 1-2 years. Bachelor's degree is preferred with same experience.
