Description

Judicial Secretary
• Relieve the judge of routine administrative duties, including maintenance of the calendar, scheduling meetings and conferences, and making travel arrangements
• Prepare, type and proofread legal documents (e.g. correspondence, memoranda, reports, forms, opinions, decisions) from dictation, drafts or transcripts
• Prepare weekly docket for distribution
• Perform clerical duties such as filing, copying, assembling reports and documents, and processing mail, operating a computer and a variety of other office equipment
• Maintain files and legal books for judge
• Receive and screen visitors and callers, explain procedures and provide information (Note specifically that it is outside the scope of a secretary’s role to dispense legal advice).
• Utilize KY Courts II to research and obtain information regarding cases
• Oversee sua sponte dismissal motions and orders with respect to the circuit docket
• Prepare dvds and video logs
• Request Interpreters for circuit cases, both civil and criminal

• Prior Judicial/Legal Secretarial Experience Preferred

Set Hours — Monday through Friday; 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
