SUMMARY
Responsibilities include protecting company property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Patrols buildings and ground facilities.

Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine if they are secure.

Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles. Identifies and requests appropriate support for expelling persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.

Observes and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked or not protected as well as inspecting equipment for tampering and abnormalities.

Observes departing personnel to guard against theft of company assets.

Initiate calls to police or fire department by telephone in the event of fire or presence of unauthorized persons on any Churchill Downs properties. Validates identity of individuals and authorizes entry to the property.

Performs inspections of value houses by recording required pressure readings and other related factors.

Records data such as: property damage; unusual occurrences; collisions; medical emergencies and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment and notifies appropriate supervisory staff.

Ensures vehicle and pedestrian traffic flow in an efficient and effective manner to permit access to the facility through designated gates.

Responsible for acceptance of deliveries and distribution of outbound parcels to appropriate recipients/company. Employee must be able to identify processes to receive, document and distribute information in accordance with company standards.

Maintains presence at gate to accept incoming calls and communicates messages to appropriate staff members 24/7 and interacts with authorized employees, guests, vendors and others who are requesting entry into the facility. Must maintain master reporting log and assign incident control number when requested by member of the Security team.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.


SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and other office related software.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
