Responsible for the installation and configuration of software systems; analyze and troubleshoot network hardware and software systems. Provide technical assistance and training to system and network users for use of Internet, Intranet, electronic mail, and telecommunications applications.
Desktop Computer Setup and Support:
Inspect computer equipment; install and configure to user requirements; prepare computer for delivery.
Install or assist in the installation of hardware, software, and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drive as well as lab instrument hardware and software and Virgin Healthmiles kiosks.
Load and configure specified software packages such as operating systems, network drivers, office automation, electronic communications, and internet for use.
Test hardware and software configurations to verify correct system operation; educate user of equipment, software, and manuals.
Desktop Workstation User Support:
Answer client’s inquiries in person and via telephone concerning systems operation.
Diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems.
Recommend or perform minor remedial actions to correct problems based on knowledge of systems operation.
Replace defective or inadequate software packages.
Refer major hardware problems to service personnel for correction.
Network Troubleshooting and Problem Diagnoses:
Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems.
Upgrade network hardware and software components, under the direction of a network administrator.
Install, upgrade, and configure network printing, directory structures, rights, security, and software on file servers.
Establish network users, user environment, directories, and security for networks being installed.
Network User Support:
Provide users with computer network and telecommunications technical support.
E-Mail Administration and Support:
Assist with Exchange administration including mailbox creation and deletion, group and contact setups, mailbox maintenance, and policy configurations and implementations.
Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of Outlook Web Access server.
Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of EMC EmailXtender E-Mail archiving system including mailbox quota configurations, archiving tasks creation and management, software upgrades, and archive volume management.
Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of anti-spam appliance including rule configuration, white list / black list configuration, and spam scoring configuration.
Web Development Administration and Support:
Research, develop, design, and implement Content Management System (CMS) for intranet environment.
Install, configure, and maintain Drupal CMS.
Design, develop, update, and manage intranet sites.
Assist and train end users with web development tasks.
Server Administration and Support:
Assist with Microsoft Windows Server administration and support including server installations and management as well as security updates.
Assist Storage and System Administrators with backup and recovery of Windows server data using EMC Networker tools.
Assist with Active Directory support including account maintenance and setup, Organizational Unit setup, and Group Policy implementations.
Manage server licenses for various products including Adobe, InfoWater, and Keystone.
Install and manage server software including Keystone, InfoWater, and TrackIT.
Install, configure, and maintain Internet web filter system including policy creation and administration and client deployments;
Skill and Personal Development:
Attend technical conferences and seminars to keep abreast of new software and hardware product developments.
Assist with the selection and training of and provide direction for student interns and part-time seasonal employees.
Perform other duties as assigned.
One year experience in the installation, administration, and support of Microsoft Windows Desktop (2000, XP), Microsoft Office Professional, Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Internet Explorer; ability to lift 60 pounds; ability to understand and apply the methods of investigation; ability to represent and related abstract ideas by means of symbols;ability to work in team based environment; ability to utilize problem solving methods and apply continuous quality improvement tools to solve business problems; strong communication skills; attention to detail, analytical and problem solving skills, good organization skills;
goal-oriented mindset; good interpersonal skills and initiative; valid driver’s license.
Set Hours — Generally works a 40-hour work week in an office environment; some travel for training and job skill enhancement.
Associate degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, or Data Processing; or an accredited technical degree or certification in the computer technology field;
