Project Description:
The Indiana-Kentucky Water Science Center of the U.S. Geological Survey has a variety of projects related to scientific software development, statistical analysis, data visualization, web development, and geographic information systems.

Description of Student Services:
The student will be expected to assist in software development, statistical analysis, web development, data visualization, and geographic information systems.

The student will be helping to develop, test, and document scientific-based applications, creating innovative data visualizations and web pages, updating legacy statistical analysis, and working with spatial data and analysis.


The student will need a background in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, geography, and/or other science related field through course work or previous related experience.

The student will need to be creative, hardworking, motivated, and willing to work in a team environment. The student will need to have experience with or be willing to learn the following programming languages: Python, R, Matlab, Fortran, JavaScript, and C#.
The student will need to have experience with or be willing to learn how to build web pages using HTML and CSS.



Work Schedule

Flexible - Will work with applicant — The work is primarily indoors using a computer. Occasional overnight travel may be required, in conjunction with school availability or during times in the summer. Official travel will be paid for by the Government




Compensation is commensurate with the level of education and experience, as follows:
$13.26 per hour for a student who meets the above criteria.

Student is responsible for all costs of transportation to and from the principal duty station location. The Government does not provide housing, meals, or other living expenses while working at the principal duty station.
